Default Steering valve leaks...

Hi, to be short, this is my next problem:

The other evening I put my 6030 in the shed. Suddenly there was some oil between my feet. After a quick look I think the steering valve is leaking. There is a kit to overhaul the steering valve. Partnumber AR39585. This kit also can be used on other tractors like the 4020.
My question is, is it difficult to overhaul this valve? What are the thinks to be carefull with?

Hope anyone can help.

Thanks and kind regards,
Mark Vaessen

Mark;
Just wish you were closer and you could borrow my book,, think you are correct,, 4020 is the same set-up, try find a book for the pictures,, yea,, looks like taking a bunch of the dash/console apart,, once you get there,, I don`t think it will be that difficult,, good luck!!

Thanks Mel,

You're retired, so I guess you must have enough time to come with your book overhere...LOL.

As far as I know the 6030 has the same set-up as the 4020. Looks like when I take the cowl off, that I might be able to take the valve out. Hope it works that way, than it saves me al lot of time taking the dash apart. The kit contains a lot of springs and o-rings. Just wanted to know if there's a trick to replace them good but easily.

With kind regards,
Mark

If it is leaking between your feet are you sure that it isn't just one of the lines leading up to the valve that is leaking. Usually if they have a seal out internally they leak between the steering wheel and throttle. Overhauling one of these things can get pricey so make sure you know where they leak is before tearing it apart.

Hi, sorry for my late reply. I was busy for the last couple of days. Had to make a lot of round wrapped bales of grass silage and round bales hay.
If mel was here, he could of helped my with those jobs. If I have to pay for his ticket, than that means I own the ticket, so I can decide when he can return. So I can think about lots of jobs he can do. And if he wants to drink a lot of beer, no problem, that only means he has to stay longer....LOL. You still want to come Mel?

@ 4010boy. thanks, but it had a closer look and the valve is the one that leaks. But thanks for your help. I was reading GM today and do you have any pictures of your new tractor?

With kind regards,
Mark
